Since 2019, M-Four have been providing EPC services for North Ayrshire Council over a four-year programme to improve energy efficiency.
Our specialist assessors carry out EPC (energy performance certificate) assessments for all void properties prior to them being re-let. This often involves short notice work with quick turnaround of surveys and EPC assessment submission required in time for the new tenant to move in. We also installed LED lightbulb upgrades where necessary to these properties if the EPC rating fell just short of EESSH requirements.

EPC Data Capture
We have experience in information capture and storage across a range of use-cases. Our current solution, Chameleon Forms, allows us to capture data within our light and powerful ‘abstract data model’. The abstract data model creates an abstract concept of attributes and metrics, before storing them in a hierarchical form structure. This means that users are able to much more widely define their data-capture scope, rather than requiring complicated additions and joins across the wider structure. Put simply, it puts the control around data capture in the hands of the user, rather than being constrained by the fields available in the system.

Combining this approach with a powerful data capture software like Chameleon Forms enables us to ensure any capture requirements. These include information in a stock condition report or a new product type in a warehouse stock report. Typically, such requirements had a history of being awkward and outside of the simplistic capabilities of the storage solutions available. Modelling in this way also allows Chameleon to use its powerful Forms module to ‘attach’ reports and the collected data to two key anchor points – people and assets.

Solution
Through implementing a mobile auditing solution, we recorded all electrical and EPC assessment warranty documentation. This enabled better quality assurance on the job and reduced the likelihood of having to revisit properties.
Furthermore, by using mobile tablets, we are able to electronically record installation dates, serial and warranty information, and completion dates. Photographs of the work undertaken were also provided as part of the handover documentation to the client. We also used photographic evidence during this project, as with all projects, to showcase quality assurance.
